21st
Street
Welcome to 21st
Street Education. This street is not the main street in our little town, but it
is a street many of us must travel at times in our life. It is a street that
has many turns with hills for climbing and valleys for reflection. There are
some bridges. Sometimes the street guides us through the forest while at other
times we can see a great distance. It is one of the many streets we take on our
journey of life.
The street is friendly
and may empower one to joy in life through thoughts and meditations. It is a
street of questions we may answer in a way that gives life value. As we first
turn onto 21st Street, seven letters to a dear friend will address
our arrival in this global village for Letter One begins:
A letter to a friend
concerning the arrival of the global village,
A
few months ago I had the privilege to read a book written by a Catholic priest
to one of his Jewish friends. The writing was in response a request from a
friend that something of the Spirit is presented to his friends and he. In the
beginning the priest states that his desire is to write to a Jewish man and his
friends living in a secular world. He desires to speak of spirituality to
secularists and skeptics. In the end his friend told him that the writing was
for the converted and not truly secular people.
So
it is in this context that I write you about the arrival of the global village.
Perhaps the secular world can glean some meaning from this thesis, but if only
it helps the converted understand and communicate the characteristics of the
village that is good. Let me propose a question to you. Is it time for the arrival of the GLOBAL VILLAGE or the new world
order?
